Values

GAHN's desire is to be a network of health institutions and individuals that embody the shared values and convictions of Mennonite World Conference adopted by the General Council of Mennonite World Conference in 2006.

By the grace of God we seek to live and proclaim the good news of reconciliation in Jesus Christ. As part of the united body of Christ in all times and places, we declare the following affirmations to be the essence of our faith and practice:

  1. We know God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Creator who has the purpose of restoring fallen humanity by summoning a people and calling them to be faithful in brotherhood, worship, service, and testimony.
  2. Jesus is the son of god. Through his life and teachings, his cross and his resurrection, he showed us how to be faithful disciples, redeemed the world, and offers eternal life.
  3. As a church, we are a community of those whom the Spirit of God calls to abandon sin, recognize that Jesus Christ is Lord, receive baptism after confession of faith, and follow Christ in life.
  4. As a community of faith, we accept that the Bible is our authority for faith and life, interpreting it together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the light of Jesus Christ, to discern the will of God and obey it.
  5. The Spirit of Jesus empowers us to trust God in all aspects of life, so that we become peacemakers who renounce violence, love our enemies, seek justice, and share our possessions with those in need. .
  6. We meet regularly to worship, to celebrate the Lord's Supper, and to listen to the Word of God, ready to give an account to each other of our actions.
  7. As a global community of faith and life, we transcend boundaries of nationality, race, social class, gender and language, and seek to live in the world without conforming to the powers of evil, bearing witness to the grace of God through service to others, caring for creation, and inviting all humanity to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

These convictions are inspired by the faith of our 16th century Anabaptist ancestors, who were an example of the radical discipleship of Jesus Christ. We seek to walk in his name by the power of the Holy Spirit, confidently awaiting the return of Christ and the definitive establishment of the kingdom of God.
