Our Organizational Structures

  1. General Assembly

The General Assembly is composed of all institution and individual members of the network

The major tasks of the General Assembly are:

  • Provide space for connecting, sharing, and possibilities of collaborating
  • Provide space for reporting on activities of the network, global and regional
  • Provide space for priority technical presentations
  • Provide space for individual contributions
  1. Commissions

The commissions are developed to provide space for discerning themes or programs of common interest for the whole network.

Some of the common themes/programs to consider might be:

  • Programs and Events Planning
  • Finances, Budgeting, Fundraising, and Grant Proposal Writing
  • Continuing Education
  • Policy and Advocacy
  • Communication, Public Relations
  • Scholarships
  1. Coordinating Committee

The Global Anabaptist Health Network shall be administered by a Coordinating Committee whose responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Care-taking of the vision/charter of membership
  • Liaison with institutional and individual members
  • Liaison with Mennonite World Conference
  • Oversee the work of the network
  • Participate in the planning of the commission/network meetings
  • Manage nominations of persons to serve on the coordinating committee
  • Supervise small staff work

3.1 Composition of the Coordinating Committee

The Global Anabaptist Health Network Coordinating Committee will be composed of the following members:

  • One member from Africa,
  • One member from Asia,
  • One member from Europe,
  • One member from Latin America and Caribbean,
  • One member from North America
  • Three or more Technical Advisors as needed

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee oversees the activities of the GAHN in between meetings of the Coordinating Committee as outlined above. The Executive Committee is composed of the following members:

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair
  • Secretary
  • Senior Staff (Volunteer?)
  • Advisor(s)

Our Meeting Times

  1. All the members of GAHN shall meet face-to-face every three years, in conjunction with the MWC General Council meetings. Additional meetings shall be organize as needed using electronic means or face to face as funding is available.
  1. The Coordinating Committee shall meet every year by electronic means. The committee shall then meet face to face prior to GAHN General Assembly every three years in conjunction with MWC General Council.
  1. The two members of the GHAN serving on the MWC Commission shall meet as determined by the Commission.
  1. The Executive Committee shall meet face to face every year. Additional meetings shall be organized as needed by electronic means.

Our Decision-making Process

As a member network of one of the commission of the Mennonite World Conference General Council, our official decision-making process shall be by consensus as practiced during all the official meetings of MWC General Council.
